Manage Attributes (Designs)

Audience: Retailer/Factory admins
Where: Settings → Data Management → Object attributes
Applies to: Product lines such as shirts, jackets, suits.

Attribute Sync Logic — which groups sync Attributes, Style Templates, and Conditional Logic

What you can do

  • Edit an attribute’s label, group, garment part, position (order), and thumbnail image
  • Turn attributes on/off (Active toggle)
  • Edit attribute options (labels, images, order) and turn each option on/off

What you cannot do

  • Create brand-new attributes or options yourself
  • Change the platform taxonomy (new attributes/options are added by the Chaos team)

Quick glossary

  • Attribute (Design): A configurable choice (e.g., Collar Style, Embroidery Level).
  • Option: A value for an attribute (e.g., Mandarin Collar, Formal).
  • Group: A section an attribute appears under (e.g., Collar, Embroidery, Accents).
  • Garment Part: Where the attribute applies (e.g., Top, Bottom, Inside Body).

Standard workflow

  1. Request any new attributes/options from the Chaos team.
  2. The Chaos team adds them and notifies you.
  3. Configure & activate them in Object attributes.
  4. (Optional) Add Conditional Logic and Style Templates that use the new items.
  5. QA in the product configurator.

Requesting new attributes or options (what to send)

Provide a short list indicating product line, attribute, and option. Example request lines:

  • Product: Men’s Guayabera Shirt — Attribute: Number of Embroidery Colors — Option: Multi – 4 lines
  • Product: Men’s Guayabera Shirt — Attribute: Number of Embroidery Colors — Option: Multi – 5 lines
  • Product: Men’s Suit Jacket — Attribute: Pocket Style — Option: Patch Pocket

Include brand-new attributes and any brand-new options for existing attributes, and which product line(s) each applies to.

Configure & activate (after Chaos adds them)

  1. Go to Settings → Data Management → Object attributes.
  2. Select the Object (e.g., Product Design) and the Product Line.
  3. Search for the new attribute or option and click Edit.
  4. Update label, group, garment part, position (order), and image as needed.
  5. Toggle Active for the attribute.
  6. Open the attribute and toggle Active for each option you want visible.
  7. Save.

Examples

Example A — Guayabera shirt production

Goal: Show Sleeve Vents Fabric only when Sleeve Vent = Yes; update Collar Style option images.

  1. Object attributes → Product line: Guayabera Shirt → edit Sleeve Vents Fabric.
  2. Set group, garment part: Top, position, upload images, and turn Active on.
  3. Open Sleeve Vents Fabric and turn Active on for each option you sell.
  4. Conditional Logic:
When: Sleeve Vent Equal To Yes
Action: Show attribute(s)Sleeve Vents Fabric (mark Required if needed)
  5. QA in the configurator:
Yes → it’s visible with options
    No → it’s hidden

Example B — Suit jacket production

Goal: Add two options to Pocket Style and set their order; show Buttonhole Thread Color only when Functional Cuffs = Yes.

  1. Object attributes → Product line: Suit Jacket.
  2. Edit Pocket Style → confirm options Patch Pocket and Jetted with Flap → set labels, images, and positions → turn Active on for the attribute and both options.
  3. Edit Buttonhole Thread Color → ensure options are set and Active.
  4. Conditional Logic:
When: Functional Cuffs Equal To Yes
    Action: Show attribute(s)Buttonhole Thread Color
  5. QA in the configurator to confirm order and visibility.

Best practices

  • Use buyer-friendly labels.
  • Add simple images for options to speed up decisions.
  • Keep order logical: most-used first; related items together.
  • Only activate options you intend to sell.
  • Capture dependencies with Conditional Logic.

Troubleshooting

  • Can’t find the new item: check the product line filter, use search, then confirm the item is Active.
  • Attribute shows but no choices: open the attribute and activate its options.
  • Order looks wrong: edit and adjust position for the attribute and its options, then save.

Related how-tos

  • Conditional Logic: Show/hide attributes or specific options based on selections.
  • Style Templates: Build presets (e.g., Elegant, Classic) for faster ordering.
